Chatting between unrelated males and
females on social networking sites like
Facebook, twitter, Skype etc. is forbidden in
Islamic law and is haram," said member of
Saudi committee and senior scholars
Abdullah Al-Mutlaq
According to Arab website Abdullah Al-
Mutlaq scholars of Saudi Arabia said that
online chatting is a form of "Khalwat" the
Islamic term describing a situation where
men and women are alone in private area"
which is the way of sin.
"These chatting may get very personal
between unrelated men and women leading
to inappropriate/shameful topics of
conversation." Said Abdullah Al-Mutlaq
He urged both men and women to avoid the
committing sin which violate religious codes
of the conduct. He advised to young Muslim
generation be careful in this matter and
don't commit sin.
Sheikh Al-Mutlaq, warned that "the devil
would be present when women talk to men"
and urged women not to talk to males, even
if the purpose of the discussion is to obtain
guidance and advice.
